Financial Management and
Financial Performance Analysis of Equipment

Overview

This tool enables the full financial analysis of equipment over the entire contract period or useful life. Any point can be selected during the period under review
to obtain the financial health. Budgets created at the beginning of equipment life
are compared against actual financial results during the life and then forecasts are created to the end of period. 'What If' Type scenario's can be run with changes made to any of the items to view the impact on the financial health
of the equipment? Financial information is shown in both tabular and graphical format allowing drill down from the top down to individual detail and comparing Budget against actual and forecast numbers. The system enables large volumes
of equipment to be reviewed and managed by exception.

Functionality

  • Budgets can be created for equipment at start of life or contract or at any point in equipment life.
  • Costs which are considered include:
    1. PM Service Costs including travel and accommodation.
    2. Component rebuild costs including parts and labour.
    3. Fixed costs including
      • Interest
      • Insurance
      • Depreciation
      • Other (definable)
    4. Contingency costs.
    5. Unscheduled costs for both PM Services and Components calculated as a % of total budget.
    6. Foreign Exchange adjustments and Escalations.
    7. Monitoring and Equipment management Fees.
  • A forecast is then created for each expense type originally from the budget. This forecast is updated continuously base on actual information entered as well as SMU/Distance reading recorded in the system. The update routine is run daily or at the click of a button. Forecasts can be changed to reflect various 'What if' type scenarios.
  • Actual information is entered to the system manually or directly by file uploads from customer Original systems or DBS.
  • Reporting screens use selection criteria to enable the user to view comparative equipment or contracts.
  • Colour coding indicates exceptions.
  • Financial data can be viewed at summary levels or drill down to the detail while continually comparing Actuals against Budget or Actuals + Forecast against Budget for the future period.
